How do I choose the right Sleeping Bag?Updated 2 months ago

How do I choose what to buy?

Choosing the right sleeping bag for your child depends on their sleep style preference, as well as their weight and height. Here’s a general guide for progressing through our sleeping bag range:

  • 0-3M: Start with our Cocoon Swaddle Bag (arms in or out) to provide a snug, secure feeling.
  • 3-12M: Transition to a Sleeping Bag, which offers a similar slim-fit design and fabric as the Cocoon Swaddle.
  • 12-24M: Choose between a Sleeping Bag for a wider fit or a Sleep Suit Bag for active toddlers who move a lot during sleep. The Sleep Suit Bag is also versatile for use in a 5-point harness.
  • 2-3Y: Continue with your toddler's preferred pouch (either the Sleeping Bag or Sleep Suit Bag). You can also introduce a Toddler Pillow to help them stay in one place during sleep.
  • 3-4Y: Keep using the Sleep Suit Bag in 'legs' mode, or try our Sleep Onesie or Kids Pyjamas for warmth under a blanket while transitioning to a big bed.
  • 4Y+: Your big kid can now enjoy our TOG-rated Pyjamas and Convertible Quilt. Congratulations on reaching this milestone!

Important Notes:

  • Always ensure the sleeping bag fits snugly around the neck and armholes to prevent your baby from slipping through or pulling the material over their face.
  • The sleeping bag should be bell-shaped from the hips down to prevent hip dysplasia and allow for free leg movement.
  • We offer both sleeveless and sleeved options starting from size 3M+. Generally, choose sleeves for room temperatures below 21°C/70°F.

Sizing Tips:

  • A baby weighing 2kg or more can safely use the 00000 size. For smaller babies, please consult your pediatrician first.
  • A baby weighing over 3kg is suitable for the NB 0000 size, and a baby weighing 3-6kg fits the 0-3M size.
  • Most newborns born at 38 weeks or later will fit the Newborn 0000 size.
