What is the best way to wash and care for my bag?Updated 2 months ago

How do I properly wash and care for my ergoPouch product to extend its life?

All of our pouches are double-stitched and dyed with non-toxic, water-based dyes, certified to be free from formaldehyde, phthalates, and lead. With proper care, your ergoPouch can be used for several years and passed down from one baby to another.

Washing Instructions:

  • Delicate/gentle cycle
  • Cold water
  • Mild detergent
  • Do not soak or bleach

To preserve the fabric’s quality, wash your ergoPouch on a gentle or delicate cycle in cold water with a mild detergent. If the item is still wet after washing, we recommend running an additional spin cycle.

For winter TOG products, we suggest placing them in a garment wash bag. This helps protect the delicate fabric and maintain the shape of the garment while preventing damage from other items in the wash.

Important Care Tips:

  • Avoid high temperatures from hot water, dryers, or irons, as they can cause fading and fabric breakdown. Always wash in cold water and tumble dry on low.
  • Heat can cause shrinking, so be cautious with drying temperatures.
  • Do not soak or bleach the item.

When washing, it’s best to launder a full load, but avoid washing with towels or bedding, as they can put excessive weight on the garment, particularly the filling in our 2.5 or 3.5 TOG products.

Drying Instructions:

  • Tumble dry on a low setting or dry in direct sunlight, inside out.

If air-drying, avoid using a coat hanger or hanging the item by the neck, as this can stretch the neckline. If drying outside, ensure the pouch is turned inside out to protect it from fading in direct sunlight. Once dry, bring the item inside to prevent prolonged sun exposure, especially in summer, as this could cause shrinkage or damage.

We recommend starting by air-drying your pouch and finishing with a low tumble-dry setting to help “fluff” the fibers and maintain the loft, especially for products filled with organic cotton (e.g., 2.5/3.5 TOG Sleeping Bags & Suits, Pillows, and Quilts). If you don’t have a dryer, drying in direct sunlight will help release moisture.

Even Distribution of Filling:

If you notice uneven filling distribution after a non-delicate wash cycle, a gentle tumble-dry on low should help redistribute the filling evenly.
